GENERAL INFORMATION

The City Council of Valencia is the body in charge of the government and administration of our municipality. The city of Valencia currently has a total of 792,086 inhabitants and is the center of a large metropolitan area that exceeds one and a half million. It represents 16% of the population of the Valencian Community and is, by demographic size, the third city in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona.

The city of Valencia is basically a service-oriented economic area, with 83% of the population employed. However, the city maintains an important industrial base (11%). On the other hand, agriculture activities, although having a relatively minor importance, survive in the municipality, occupying a total of 3,348 hectares, mostly horticultural crops.

Its dynamism as an economic center and as a reference point for multiple economic activities is reflected in the strength of key institutions for economic development such as Feria Valencia, the Autonomous Port, the Stock Exchange, the Congress Palace or its Universities and Technological Centres.
